    Just like the AA Bench, the AA Side Table is made from three distinct profiles of solid Finnish pine, skillfully connected together. A direct and unflinching use of material is characteristic of designer Kwangho Lee’s work, the AA series is a prime example of that: Here, pine is the hero. This characterful piece of furniture may be compact but its functions are extensive; use it as a stool, a side table, in groups or alone.

    Material Characteristics

    Pine gets better with age. The colours mature to a deeper palette. The heartwood and sapwood age at different speeds and bring out the natural patterns of the grains. After a few years, pine will settle into a rich and complex honey tone
     
    Pine is a soft wood and will get dents and bruises over the years. But don’t think of them as blemishes or flaws. Embrace them. They’re evidence of life lived and furniture loved. Pine isn’t life-proof. It’s proof of life.

    Every pine tree is harvested from sustainably managed Finnish forests. The wood is hand-selected of the highest quality and each piece has its own unique colours and grain patterns.

    The Designer

    Kwangho Lee

    Korean designer Kwangho Lee is particularly interested in the union of materials and tries to capture this ‘moment of connection’ in the objects he creates. Since establishing his studio in Seoul, Lee has dedicated himself to giving new function and meaning to everyday objects, often using methods of construction as the starting point for his covetable designs.
